The H8 VLE beam

The H8 beam line on the North area of CERN is a multi purpose experimental particle beam of various particle types in the momentum range of 10-400(450) GeV/c. In 2002/2003 shutdown the beam line was modified in order to be able to produce and transport particle beams of momenta down to 1 GeV/c. Such particle beams with low momentum are demanded by the LHC experiment ATLAS in order to calibrate various sub-detector systems. Its operation and performance results are described here.
